Inherited from the movie industry, spatial sound like that heard through Atmos places the audience directly in the picture. In a movie scene, for example, an airplane would sound as if it were flying directly over your head; in music’s case, vocals soar from a mezzanine, or a roaring cymbal roll cascades through a concert hall.

BERNSTEIN: MUSIC FOR STRING QUARTET
Leonard Bernstein
MUSIC FOR STRING QUARTET is the world premiere recording of renowned composer Leonard Bernstein’s long-lost work. Composed by an 18-year-old Bernstein during his studies at Harvard, the piece has been steadfastly shepherded from its re-discovery to this historic release by former Boston Symphony Orchestra Librarian John Perkel, and is performed here by Lucia Lin, Natalie Rose Kress, Danny Kim, and Ronald Feldman.
