The critically-acclaimed Trio Casals has made several appearances at New York City’s historic Carnegie Hall over the years, their most recent on November 10, 2023 with music from their latest Navona Records release, A GRAND JOURNEY VOL. 2.

With music echoing themes of persistence in the face of adversity, calls for reflection and attention on acts of injustice, and more, A GRAND JOURNEY VOL. 2 delivers resounding chamber music from a diverse range of contemporary composers.

Spanning sounds from traditional classical forms to jazz-infused rhythms, mixed meters, and a deeply-moving piece for solo cello, the trio masterfully showcased the works of Bruce Babcock, Richard E Brown, Elizabeth Vercoe, Andre’ E. Godsey, Sr., John Summers, and Brian Field to a lively audience.

“The concert was fantastic,” said Brown. “The trio performed the whole program flawlessly to a nearly full house… A very exciting and rewarding experience!”

From Tchaikovsky, Dvořák, Mahler, and Bartók to George Gershwin, Billie Holiday, Benny Goodman, Judy Garland, and The Beatles, a wide range of celebrated artists representing the finest of every genre have filled Carnegie Hall throughout the years. For many composers and performers in the classical community, sharing their music at the historic venue represents a milestone achievement.

“One of my lifetime dreams was to have music performed at Carnegie Hall,” said Godsey. “The way to Carnegie Hall runs through practice and PARMA.”

Stay tuned for upcoming performance announcements on the PARMA Live Stage. In the meantime, dive into Trio Casals’ catalog of recorded works on Navona Records.
