PARMA recently had the opportunity to catch up with one of the artists in our Winter 2019 Call for Scores: Cuban-American cellist Thomas Mesa. Tommy is a world-renowned performer and educator, having appeared in concert for places from Carnegie Hall to the Supreme Court of the United States, and his playing has been described as having a “musical intensity that is commanding in every detail…” With a dedication to detail and unmatched positive energy, Tommy is a powerful member of PARMA’s Call for Scores performer lineup. We spoke with Tommy about how he (unintentionally) walked into a career in cello performance, the ways in which he prepares for sessions, and more.

Thank you Tommy for joining us in this exclusive PARMA interview! Learn more about the Call for Scores and how to submit scores for solo cello or cello and piano here.
