Winter is coming to a close, spring is in the air, and a powerful initiative in contemporary choral music is taking root.

PARMA Recordings is proud to announce that we have shaken hands on a multi-album deal with Grammy Award-winning chamber choir The Crossing. Together, PARMA and The Crossing with Conductor and Artistic Director Donald Nally will be joining forces to release a series of albums, adding to the rich catalog of this acclaimed choir, Navona Records, and contemporary vocal music repertoire.

PARMA and The Crossing have had a fruitful history of working together. The Crossing has appeared on multiple high-profile Navona albums, including Gregory W. Brown’s MOONSTRUNG AIR, Edie Hill’s CLAY JUG, Piffaro’s VESPERS, and an upcoming multi-composer album set to be released in early summer. They have also released their own full album with Navona, IT IS TIME. Now, on the heels of their second Grammy win for Best Choral Performance and their triumphant New York Philharmonic debut with the world premiere of Julia Wolfe’s Fire in my mouth, The Crossing will be adding to this list with innovative new choral music.

“Great things don’t usually happen in a vacuum,” says PARMA CEO Bob Lord. “Bringing unique experiences and perspectives to the table is key for progress, and this new working relationship speaks to that. With The Crossing’s recent milestone achievements and PARMA’s expansion of recording and performance efforts across continents, there’s no saying what our work together can’t accomplish. Combining efforts for the common goal of creating the best music possible — this is what it’s all about.”

With PARMA’s eye to defying genres and paving new ways for music, and The Crossing’s commitment to expanding how music for choir is written, performed, and listened to, we look forward to a bright future with these efforts combined.
