Hungarian oboist Zoltan Hornyanszky began oboe studies at age 13. Since beginning his studies as a child, he has made various television and radio recordings, played recitals and solos with orchestras in Austria, Hungary, Portugal, Italy, the Czech Republic, and the United States, and participated in international festivals as a soloist in Croatia, Spain, and China. In the summer of 2019, Zoltan toured China with Croatian guitarist István Römer as their dynamic group, the Hornyanszky-Roemer Duo, as part of the PARMA Recordings Summer Concert Series. We recently took time to catch up with Zoltan to go over his experiences on tour, the audience’s reception to their performance of Phil Salathé’s Expecting the Spring Breeze from Salathé’s Ravello Records album IMAGINARY BIRDS, his advice to future tourgoers, and more.

Thank you Zoltan for taking the time to speak with PARMA!
