Amazing Grace
Jason Bergman

How sweet the sound. The universally loved Amazing Grace, arranged by Kevin McKee on BE STILL MY SOUL,  is infused with newly composed music that compliments it in a reverent way. Trumpeter Jason Bergman delivers a responding performance, uplifted by pianist Jared Pierce’s soothing, delicate keys.

“When Bergman is playing the trumpet he takes command; when he plays his flugelhorn, he becomes a poet.” – Gramophone Magazine

Un Lendemain
Danaë Vlasse

Danaë Vlasse contributes performances of two original works for solo piano on POÈME, which received a gold medal in the 2020 Global Music Awards. Vlasse’s songs, which set texts written during the 19th century as well as contemporaneously, are driven by the grandiose ideals that define Romantic culture: admiration for nature, celebration of history, devotion to family and the alternating torture and bliss of love for another person.

Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 (arranged for Baroque Ensemble): IV. Variation 3: Canone all’Unisono
Repast Baroque Ensemble

Though Bach’s Goldberg Variations were originally written as a piece for solo harpsichord, the masterpiece has been re-orchestrated for many different instrumental combinations. Hailed as a “graceful, energetic ensemble” by The New York Times, Repast Baroque Ensemble offers their take on the work with a full performance on period instruments.

J.S BACH: GOLDBERG VARIATIONS, BWV 988 (Arranged for Baroque Ensemble)

Since 2004, Repast has presented a concert series in New York City that engages audiences with innovative, thematic programs of great music – both known and unknown – from the Baroque period. The groups’ name, Repast – meaning a meal or a feast – plays off the idea that a concert should be delicious and satisfying.

Lament in Tremolo Form
William Chapman Nyaho

A distinguished performer and educator, William Chapman Nyaho shares a stirring performance of composer Laurindo Almeida’s Lament in Tremolo Form on KETE – Piano Music of Africa and the African Diaspora.

“‘Kete’ is one of the most complex, intricate and highly symbolic dances from the royal courts of the Akan people,” says Nyaho. “‘Kete’ is also the name of a particularly beautiful fabric of the Ewe people, woven in strips on a loom and then sewn together to create beautiful patterns. This album reflects the weaving together of music by people of African descent, spread across the entire globe.”
