To Throw was composed in July of 2013 for Unlacquered Brass Quintet and the Longhorn Network as part of a television special titled “Performance Art,” which blended musical performances with athletic performances, displaying the mechanics of each in slow motion.

 

This segment features a pitcher, standing alone on a mound for all to see.  To Throw aims to depict that isolation, as well as his confidence, precise repetition.
