Josh Getman
Josh Getman (b. 1993) is a New York-based composer and bassist currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in composition from the Juilliard School, studying with Robert Beaser. His musical endeavors started at the age of fourteen upon deciding to learn electric bass. As a bassist, Josh received early exposure to a diverse world of musical genres and styles, such as rock, jazz, hip-hop, and electronic music, which eventually lead him to composition. His most recent musical activities have included a variety of cross-genre collaborations with filmmakers and dancers across the country. In addition to composition Josh is an active performer of rock and jazz in the New York-New Jersey area. Josh graduated from Scotch-Plains Fanwood High School in 2012 as an AP Scholar and was awarded the Arion Award for musical excellence. Past teachers have included Kenneth Lampl and Kevin Brown.
