NEW MUSIC OUT NOW

FIGMENTS 2

Yuan-Chen Li; Peter Dayton; Hans Bakker; Navid Bargrizan; Charles Corey

FIGMENTS 2, which follows the success of 2016’s FIGMENTS, is a compendium of chamber music that sparks the imagination. The album features the works of innovative composers who draw inspiration from the world around them, be it the tribal dances of indigenous peoples, art history, 16th-century keyboard music, the science of acoustics, or the idiosyncrasies of language.

MATERNITY / ULYSSES, HOME

Anthony Brandt

Navona Records’ MATERNITY / ULYSSES, HOME is comprised of two highly distinctive works from composer Anthony Brandt. Both pieces were inspired by written works: Maternity is based on a 2010 short story, “The Founding Mothers,” and Ulysses, Home finds its inspiration in Homer’s Odyssey. The music on the album, performed by a chamber orchestra and a string quartet, supports its striking narrative and vocal performances.
