What’s the best way to beat the frigid temperatures of February? Some studio time and a bundle of fresh classical music makes for a wonderful remedy. Read on to follow the PARMA production team’s latest recording endeavors.
Chamber Music Recording with Ferdinando DeSena
The production team launched into February with a session in the United States with composer Ferdinando DeSena, who was recording two pieces, R-nold and Samuel, to be released on his upcoming Navona Records album of original compositions.
Set up in West Chester University’s Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre, the team recorded both works with the inimitable Trio Casals.
“R-nold is named for Arnold Schoenberg — one of my favorite composers, and Samuel is named after my son. Both these recordings are vibrant and impeccable. Trio Casals gave us a masterful performance. I wrote challenging music and they rose to the occasion.”

Made up of Ovidiu Marinescu, Madalina Danila, and Timothy Schwarz, the ensemble was joined by violist Luigi Mazzocchi, Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Ballet Orchestra, the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, the Ocean City Pops Orchestra, and the Lancaster Symphony.
“DeSena’s music is filled with lyricism and depth of emotion. The artistic impact is enhanced by superb compositional skills, making this music enticing for the performers.”

Paul Dickinson and the Kühn Choir of Prague
February’s productions concluded back in the Czech Republic at Studio Martínek with the Kühn Choir of Prague, who continued recording works selected from one of PARMA’s recent Featured Recording Opportunities.
The team synced up with composer Paul Dickinson to record his choral piece O Filii et Filiae, a grand motet based on the well-known Easter hymn by Jean Tisserand.
The piece will be released on the sacred choir compilation CELESTIAL VOICES VOL. 2 from Navona Records.
