Brno Contemporary Orchestra

PARMA Recordings and Brno Contemporary Orchestra (BCO) present a classical recording opportunity for production and release both in traditional stereo and in Dolby Atmos immersive audio.

Scores selected, approved, and meeting required criteria (see guidelines below) will be recorded with the BCO, led by conductor Pavel Šnajdr, produced by PARMA’s GRAMMY-winning team for release on the company’s Navona Records imprint, and distributed digitally worldwide by Naxos of America.

Please note before submitting: this opportunity requires funding to be secured by or on behalf of composers of approved pieces; composers will retain full ownership of their resulting masters and artistic direction of the project. Costs are determined based on a specific piece of music upon assessment by PARMA’s A&R and Sessions Teams. PARMA’s A&R team is available for planning, approvals, and outward-facing documentation as applicable to assist toward the generation of project funding for approved pieces.

In addition, pieces included in this project will be performed live in concert by the BCO at Besední dům, Brno, Czech Republic.

About Brno Contemporary Orchestra

Brno Contemporary Orchestra

Brno Contemporary Orchestra

The Brno Contemporary Orchestra (BCO) was founded in 2011 with the aim of performing the world’s contemporary music and selected 20th-century works in Czechia and Czech music throughout the world.

The ensemble includes top-level professional musicians employed in the leading Czech orchestras. It draws on a large pool of permanent collaborators who perform in various lineups according to the needs of each project.

In addition to repeated appearances at festivals in Krakow and Malta, the BCO regularly performs at major Czech festivals, including Moravian Autumn, Janáček Brno and the Hradec Králové Forum.

Since its foundation, the orchestra has established itself thanks to its carefully thought-out programming, which puts the musical works in the context of other kinds of art, be it architecture, literature, the visual arts, film, or dance. Linked with this are the commissions of new works that are tailor-made for the orchestra by contemporary composers at home and abroad.

On MY COUNTRY, six composers—Petr Kofroň, Marek Piaček, Miloš Štědroň, Pavel Zemek Novák, Miroslav Tóth, and Daniel Forró—pay homage to country and Bedřich Smetana’s iconic symphonic poems.
