First penned and published in 1905 by O. Henry, THE GIFT OF THE MAGI is a one-act chamber opera that tells of a young married couple who have very little money, but dream of buying extravagant Christmas gifts for each other. It is a tale of love and sacrifice that features one of Henry’s characteristic “twist” endings, brought to life by composer Richard E Brown and the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava.
