At the closing concert for the 2013 PARMA Music Festival, PARMA will premiere "Elegy for Clarinet & Orchestra" (written in 1949 by Lukas Foss, one of the lions of American composition and music – “an authentic genius” – Leonard Bernstein) with soloist Richard Stoltzman (“America’s top clarinetist”) and the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra. The concert will also feature the world premiere of “Streams” (2010) by Martin Schlumpf with soloists David Taylor and Matthias Müller and the PARMA Orchestra. Both orchestras will be conducted by Maestro John Page. Also featured will be the PSO String Quartet, Portsmouth Music and Arts Center Jazz Ensemble, cellist Ovidiu Marinescu, Will Dailey, harp virtuoso Anna DeLoi, and additional works by Ginastera, Gottschalk, Marquez, and Tina Tallon, winner of the 2013 PARMA Student Composer Competition.
